NOTE: It is recommended that more advanced courses in mathematics, physics and chemistry be taken, especially if graduate studies are planned beyond the bachelor of science degree. PROGRAM: BUSINESS EDUCATION COMPOSITE TEACHING MAJOR BACHELOR DEGREE General Requirements: • Specific College Requirements (see index). • Requirements for General Education (see index). • A minor is not required. • Composite majors must have a 25 or better in major courses. • An overall GPA of 2.75 is required of all Education majors. • 185 total hours are required for this degree. Department of Secondary Education requirements for certification must be completed in sequence: Educ 195 (1), 300 (2), 350 (5), 363 (3), 364 (4X 462 (4), 495 (15), 499 (3); Commun HU102 (3), (Bused 225 will meet the Commun HU102 requirement). • Major Requirements: Students who have taken shorthand or typewriting in high school will be placed in the appropriate level courses by means of an evaluation of their proficiency. Any skill courses that are bypassed may be replaced by elective courses in business. • Students transferring credits fiom another institution must take at least one typewriting and one shorthand course or equivalency verification at Weber State College to verify their skills. • Any Business Education course over ten years old must be challenged or approved by the department chair before acceptance toward a requirement • To enroll in any skill course, a student must have a grade of C or better in the preceding course in the same skill.
