DUP TO DEDICATE MEMORIAL BUILDING SUNDAY AT 2 P.M. Aims And Purposes of DUP To Be discussed BY Kate B. Carter, Central Company Prexy Dedication of the Morgan County Pioneer Memorial building will be held Sunday afternoon, April 26 at 2 p.m., announced Mrs. Ivan Bell, county president of the organization, who cordially extends an invitation to the general public to attend the services. Especially invited, said Mrs. Bell, are all members former members and all eligible to come members of Daughters of Utah Pioneers, and all former camp members whether organized at this time or not. Also invited are representatives of the different local organizations, as well as individuals who have helped in any way by donations or work. A find program has been arranged, part of which will be an interesting talk on the times and purposes of the Daughters of the Utah Pioneer organizations by Kate B. Carter, President of the Central Company of Salt Lake City, who will be in attendance. Morgan County is indeed fortunate to have MRs. Cater present at this dedication as she is in demand so much of her time, attending camp conventions, writing lesson pamphlets and books for publication on pioneer history. It is hoped there will be a large attendance to hear Mrs. Carter. Patriarch Sylvester Heiner will offer the Dedicatory prayer. Mr. Heiner, himself is of pioneer ancestry. After the dedication light refreshments will be served to all present, and the building and relics will be open for inspection. The first camp of Daughters of Utah Pioneers in Morgan County was organized in April of 1918, with Mrs. Ella Despain Voyce, president; Mrs. Annie Walcron Clark, first vice president, and Mrs. Annie Croft Heiner, second vice president. Only charter member now living is Mrs. Harriet (Hattie)Eliza Robison Heiner. The Morgan County Pioneer Memorial building was started September 17th, 1948 with ground being broken on that date, and completed and open house held March 12, 1950. It was built at a minimum cost of about $8,000.00 as much of the mind. People and organizations of Morgan county. The last payment on the building as made December 8, 1952. Most of the chairs have been purchased by members and individuals in the county, who have had the name of the pioneer they wished to honor, or their own name in some instances, lettered on the back of the chair. There are still a few chairs to be sold if any one would like to honor their pioneers in this manner.
