Show Register of Utah Centennial Given to DUP at Conclave Presentation of the official Utah Centennial registery, a massive volume containing more than 40,000 signatures, highlighted the annual conference Monday of Daughters of Utah Pioneers at Hotel Utah. The registry was presented to Kate B. Carter, DUP president, by Kathrine Kay, Utah Poet and registery director. Signatures included those of the 48 governors, cinema stars, the cast of “Promised Valley,” sports stars, centenarian pioneers and one six weeks old infant, who signed a wobbling “X” by her name. Signed on Spot “Most of the signatures were collected on the spot during celebrations from June 2 to Sept. 20,” said Miss Kay. “Show girls scrawled their signatures upon sheets braced against wardrobe trucks; Ute rangers signed on horseback and participants of the trek from the backs of their covered wagons. Pages of the registry bore a covered wagon motif, lithographed from original sketches by Paul S. Clowes, Salt Lake artist.
