Show Mayor Butler retired from the Weber Fire District Board of Trustees where he has served for 12 years. In appreciation of his service, the Fire District gave him a beautiful pendulum clock with Westminster chimes, and the firemen presented him with an ornate fire axe, both of which now hang in his office. In the October-November 2005 Pioneer Post, Scott VanLeeuwen, the at-large council member for the past two years, thanked all the volunteers who have helped the community thus far. He also thanked the staff, the planning commissioners, the mayor and each council member for their service. He believes the past two years have been very eventful. He cited the two rural residential subdivisions with good open space, which are underway, a new business park, and plans in process for a commercial area on 12th Street to generate sales tax revenue for the support of our community. As members of the community look back on 2005, we can agree with Councilman VanLeeuwen that it has been an eventful year. Let us join in thanks to all those he cites who have made this possible, through hard work, hours of time, carefully considered judgement, foresight and commitment. We are most fortunate who call Marriott-Slaterville City home. |
