Show December 2005 Meeting Weber Sentinel MARRIOTT-SLATERVILLE CITY COUNCIL REPORT FOR DEC 2005 By Joyce VanTassell Marriott-Slaterville Mayor Awards announced Mayor Keith Butler's 2005 service awards were announced, with Dean and Lois Slater receiving the Good Neighbor award; Jonathan Ray Spencer receiving the Orvil Holley Youth Leadership award; Shirley Smout and Michael Murphy each receiving an Elna Lucas Community History and Culture award; and Jim Ito receiving the Darrell Mecham Community Service award. The Council also gave recommendations to the mayor for appointments to the Weber fire district and the Weber County Mosquito Abatement organization. Audit results presented to council Steve Davis, an independent auditor, presented his findings for the 2005 fiscal year (ending in June of 2005) to the council. There was a surplus in the budget, even after paying for the new city building, with revenues totaling approximately $975,000 and expenses totaling approximately $630,000. The audit results are available to the public upon request at the city offices. Overall, the city is in compliance with fiscal guidelines, and Davis' findings will be submitted to the state auditor. A letter was prepared to send back to Ogden City regarding Ogden's offer to help with funding repairs of 1200 West. Marriott-Slaterville's reply thanked Ogden for its offer and asked Ogden City to continue to work with them on a long-term approach for the street, which would involve eventual reconstruction of the road. |
