Show City Meetings MARRIOTT-SLATERVILLE CITY COUNCIL REPORT FOR SEPT 2005 By Joyce VanTassell Planning Commission The Marriott-Slaterville planning commission met on Sept. 14 and held a public hearing about vacating lot number 2 in the Christopherson subdivision (2076 W. 500 S.). After discussion, it was decided to recommend this action to the city council, which would put this lot in the Mill Creek subdivision and help provide an access road to the plat. The commission discussed Jeff Summers' plan to site his home in the Spencer Farms subdivision sideways on the lot. The planning commission concluded that the home would still meet offset requirements and gave permission for this plan. Next considered was Diane Miller's application for agricultural protection for property at 530 S. 2050 W., which would protect the land from development and also from complaints about farming activities, smells and sounds. City Council Marriott-Slaterville's City Council met with all members present. One order of business was to approve the election judges who have been appointed by Mayor Keith Butler. Elna Lucas, Naomi Eiler and Larae Brown were appointed judges, with Gerald Taylor serving as alternate. The council followed the commission's recommendation to vacate lot 2 in the Christopherson subdivision and approved this matter unanimously. Reporting on the status of the municipal building and senior center, Butler reported that the city has already had requests to use the building for wedding receptions. Plans to move into the nearly completed building are imminent. |
