Show We were well represented at Fremont High School's Christmas Fundraiser by talented Kaitlyn Holley and Todd Spencer Weber Sentinel December 12, 2005 Fremont High students raise money for local families By Lyla Kirby Correspondent Fremont High School sponsored a "Battle of the Bands/ Talent Show" fundraiser on Dec. 12 to help provide Christmas for local families in need. The event raised over $1,100 for the project, and food was also collected. The fundraiser was organized by the junior class officers and the student body officers, under the direction of Student Government Adviser Stacy Harris. The two-part show consisted of the Battle of the Bands, which included seven bands, and the Talent Show, which included five acts. Participating bands were required to have at least one Fremont High student. Each band was allowed 12 minutes to perform. Judges included peers from other local schools and one Fremont High faculty member. First, second Dan Angerson, lead singer, and members of the band Gnome Warrior won first place at Fremont High School's "Battle of the Bands." Other members of the band include Kyle Vance, Quinn Peterson, Ben Little and Drew Tutt. and third place awards were presented for both the band performances and the talent competition. First place honor in the band competition went to a group called Gnome Warrior. The band's members are Kyle Vance (lead guitar), Quinn Peterson (backup guitar), Ben Little (bass), Drew Tutt (drums), Dan Angerson (vocals) and Jason Douglass (guest vocal - second song), all from Fremont High. Second place went to a band named Recall, and third place was awarded to Second Depth. Other groups performing included Blue Storks, Uncle John's Corn Cob Pipe, Todd Spencer Experience and Penitence. In the Talent Show competition, the first place award went to Fremont's sophomore student Kaycie Ashburn who performed a dance. Second place went to Kaitlyn Holley playing the violin (accompanied by Fremont's music teacher Geoff Anderson on piano), and third place went to a three-person acoustic guitar performance by Kelson Crowther, Mike Rigley and Jace Wirick. Other performers in the talent competition were Dane Clark (singing with harmonica) and Nick Watkins (singing) with Nate Call (on piano). The auditorium was filled with students, faculty and parents. Supporters enthusiastically responded to their favorite acts with loud cheers, whistles and shouts. Each band paid a $10 fee to enter the contest, which also went to Kash for Kids. All of the winners donated their awards to the fundraising effort. |
