Show January 6 Friday Beautiful day Two years ago today my dear wife died in the Dee hospital of a heart attack Sick only a few hours. Today our dear daughter Oertel is near death suffering from a brain tumor - malignant, I have been home nearly all day, Red’d letter from Avon Smart also one from Ezra Paulsen Dr JR Morrell visited me, also Dr Jr. Myrene and Cleone and others. Hard read some one thought of my dear Wife much. Wrote to the Ralph W Hardy family in Wash D.C. PHONE 7711 OGDEN, UTAH, FRIDAY Jany 6th 1956 NO MATTER HOW IT’S SAID, WEATHER’S FINE SALT LAKE CITY (AP) -- The Salt Lake City office of the Weather Bureau wasn’t waxing rhapsodic today when its morning forecast for northern Utah and southern Idaho and northeastern Nevada, said “unusually fine weather.” It was applying a new terminology to an unusual weather situation. Forecasters explained the Weather Bureau’s “new look” in forecast language is intended to be more descriptive and colorful. A two-page glossary of terms issued by the bureau for guidance of forecasters suggests the use of “unusually fine” or “clear and bright” on days when the skies will be clear with the sun shining. Previously such a forecast would have been simply “clear.” For the second successive day Salt Lake City set a new high temperature yesterday of 55 degrees, breaking the old record of 54 for any Jan. 5, set in 1930. Ogden’s high yesterday was 49 degrees and minimum early today was 28 degrees. Provo’s temperature climbed to a top of 63 degrees yesterday. January 7-8 Sat.-Sun. Another beautiful day I have been home all day except for brief walk to see Mrs Rolink and Mrs Alex Bienne two dear old ladies both past 85 y/o Cleone and Royal called also Myrene and Dr Jr and Blanche Recd photograph from Thair -- good Have read some. Rather lonesome day. Oertel has slept practically all day - a terrible surprise. Thank goodness she is not suffering much pain. Sunday Jany 8th Beautiful day. Oertel much the same. I attended Sunday School, Had dinner at Cleones, Went for ride with Dr Jr in afternoon Blanche remained with Oertel while we were gone. I went to church at 5 pm with Cleone. Royal stayed with Oertel while we were at Church The nurse went home for a few hours Nothing special. Oertel has slept peacefully all day. Lyman Rich called for few moments. |
