During that time she documented her personal life and the medical practice of Edward, the community of Ogden and national events such as the outbreaks of WWI and WWII. The diaries also include newspaper and magazine clippings, memorabilia and pins. |

Show April 27 Friday Standard April 27 - ‘56 Brewer Nelson 2 Ogden Marines Finish Training; 3rd Goes to Japan Two Marine Corps officers from Ogden have completed the five-months’ basic course at Quantico, Va., and are being transferred to Camp Pendleton in California. They are 2nd Lts. LeRoy C. Nelson and Edward R. Brewer. Lt. Nelson is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Bert F. Nelson of 866 37th St. and the husband of the former Miss Marilyn Coop of 792 37th St. Lt. Brewer is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph W. Brewer of 2460 Taylor Ave. Another Marine from Ogden, Pvt. Jose A. Garcia, son of Mr. and Mrs. Epifanio Garcia of 927 W. Binford St., has been shipped to Japan after completing four weeks of training at the Marine Corps Base in Camp Pendleton. He left March 31. April 28-29 Sat.-Sun. Some rain to day and cooler. Cleone and I took ride around town in suburbs today I have not felt too well to day Have been dizzy. Had nice dinner over to Myrenes this evening. Wrote to Charles Smart. Recd letter Ben L Rich. Read some Cauler to night Sunday 29. Cooler to day. I went to ward Priesthood meeting and ward High Priests class and gospel Doctrine Class on Sunday School Had nice dinner at Cleones & Royals Justine and Shauna were there & Billy visited Mr & Mrs Herbert Woody Sunday April 29th, 1956 Ike, Mami Attend Services By Associated Press GETTYSBURG, PA., April 29 - President and Mrs. Dwight D. Eisenhower Sunday attended services commemorating the founding in early colonial days of the Presbyterian Church in America. They went at 10:45 a.m. to the Presbyterian Church where President Abraham Lincoln worshipped on Nov. 19, 1863, when he was here for dedication of the National Cemetery on the Civil War battlefield. It was at that dedication that Lincoln made his Gettysburg address. Mr. Eisenhower and his wife drove in from their country home on the edge of town and were seated just two pews behind the one that Lincoln occupied in the church. The President was hatless in a navy blue suit. Mrs. Eisenhower wore a black suit. Services were conducted by the Rev. Clyde Raynor Brown who chose as his sermon theme the organization of the first presbytery of the Presbyterian Church in America in 1706 by the Rev. Francis Makemie at Philadelphia. |
