Show June 29 Friday Nice day: quite hot I went down to Bank and drug store and to the market alhernoise I have been home reading and working in garden a little. Royal and Cleone and Dr Jr and Lynne called this evening Nothing special Real Man Stands by When Stork Delivers New Child Standard June 29th 56 By DR. WILLIAM BRADY Several readers have reported that their physicians inform them there is a law that forbids a husband from being present when his child is born. But there people are reticent about it. I have never managed to persuade one of them to reveal the identity of the physician who said so. Now comes an Iowa reader who says her husband agrees with me that a real man should be at his wife’s side when their baby is being born, but, alas, “there are laws in the state in which we live that forbid this.” Now, see here. This is a free country and if benighted inhabitants of the interior choose to believe such poppycock they may do so, but until some intrepid Illinoian or Iowan names the author of the fable we can’t haul the miscreant before the court of public opinion. NO SUCH LAWS The Iowa reader adds: “There were no such laws 17 years ago when our first child was born. My husband was there and in no one’s way. I am sure more men would be more thoughtful of their wives and children if they could be present in the delivery room. I am a nurse and I know a doctor is not barred from the delivery room if his wife is the patient.” Well, no, nor is any other husband barred from the delivery room if he is a man with dignity, a sense of responsibility and enough intelligence to discourage doctors, hospital officials, nurses or others who would prefer to keep him in the cage with the other rats. June 30 - July 1 Sat.-Sun. Nice day. Myrene came over and planted some flowers, Charles Cozzens and wife came up from Provo and spent the day with us. Nice couple Son of Will and Allie Cozzens.
