October 29 Monday Beautiful day, Not very cold Snow on tops of Mountains from yesterdays storm. I have been home all day except for trip to the Hospital to see Clarence Rich and Ms James Budell. Both are better Myrene visited me and I went over there for nice supper this evening Have read some and looked at T.V. Have been lonesome to day and thought much about my dear wife Standard Oct 29th, 56 Why They Don’t Vote The magazine “Service” tells a story about a British farmer who was asked to support a certain candidate. The farmer replied that he and his wife were not going to vote because they were well satisfied with things as they are. It’s a good story to point up an editorial dealing with the puzzle as to why 36 million persons of voting age didn’t vote in the presidential election four years ago and why probably as many won’t both to go to the polls on Election Day. Benjamin Franklin said apathy kept October 30 Tuesday Nice day, Little Cloudy I wrote letters to Thelma E McKay Confederation have on his 81st birthday and also wrote to President David O McKay thanking him for attending the Rich Reunion and thanking him for his many acts of kindness to our Family. He married all our Children and several Grand Children except Avon & June in the Salt Lake Temple Avon and June were married in the Salt Lake Temple by his Mission President Bro Richards. Cleone and listened to T.V. this evening very interesting. Myrene called and this afternoon and we took flowers over to Mothers’ grave (Myras grave) and I called at Hospital to see Clarence Rich and Sister James Buddell - both are better. Looks like storm to night.
