This collection contains 74 diaries of Dr. Edward Rich and his wife Almira. They begin in 1892 and run through 1965. The bulk of this collection centers on Almira's diaries that run from 1897-1947. During that time she documented her personal life and the medical practice of Edward, the community of Ogden and national events such as the outbreaks of WWI and WWII. The diaries also include newspaper and magazine clippings, memorabilia and pins. |

Show December 7 Friday Nice day to day. Was colder last night 11o but 40o today at noon I went down to printing office and to Bank with Myrene and did little shopping and we had a warm lunch at home here. Stanley Rich came up from Dee Hospital and had nice visit with me this afternoon. Good man I have read Considerable. Wrote letters to Ralph W Hardy Family in Wash D.C Have thought a lot about my past pleasant life with my dear Wife. I miss her so much, I will soon be three years since she passed to the “Great Beyond”, I miss her so much, Retire about 10 p.m. This is Dr Jr’s wife Blanche’s birthday. Dear Woman December 8-9 Sat.-Sun. Nice day but cold Last night 11o 30o temp Snow pretty well off pavement I have been home all day. Myrene called this noon and Dr Jr and Stanley Rich called this afternoon and we had nice visit. Stanley and wife were operated two weeks ago for hemorrhoids and will go home to Montpelier tomorrow nice good people. I have looked over letters and Biography I see to day. Dr Morrell’s sons was killed by japs at Pearl Harbor in raid 15 years ago yesterday - Terrible blow for him & his wife Sunday 9th I attended ward Priesthood meeting at 9 am and Sunday School at 10 a.m. and Gospel Doctrine class. Had nice dinner at Dr Jr’s & Blanches Came home about 3 p.m. and have been home alone since that time, reading etc. Lonesome. Colder about 12o above. |
