The bulk of this collection centers on Almira's diaries that run from 1897-1947. During that time she documented her personal life and the medical practice of Edward, the community of Ogden and national events such as the outbreaks of WWI and WWII. The diaries also include newspaper and magazine clippings, memorabilia and pins.

OCR Text	Show CE OF NAMES New Phone Directory Shows Smiths Gain Alex JONES DIRECTORY DELIVERY That hefty publication, the Central Directory, came out yesterday and it appears there are still more Smiths in Los Angeles than anyone else. At least more Smiths with telephones. As a matter of fact, 12 more Smith families seem to have joined us since the publication of the 1955 directory. There are 4656 listed now. Johnsons are still second with 3870 and gaining fast. They’ve increased by 138 since last year. Apparently some of them imported kinfolk. They’ll bear watching. Next come the Williams clans with 3144 listings, the Browns with 3024 and the Millers with 2744. Jones? A feeble 2697 followed by 1440 Whites and 1194 Greens. In a book heavier by 15,-000 names, one thing hasn’t changed. Ricardo Zzyzz still holds the last spot. His position isn’t even threatened.
