During that time she documented her personal life and the medical practice of Edward, the community of Ogden and national events such as the outbreaks of WWI and WWII. The diaries also include newspaper and magazine clippings, memorabilia and pins. |

LIFE GROWS LONGER This is the “Golden Age of Medicine,” in which, during the last 50 years, life expectancy has been increased more than in all the previous history of man’s existence. At the height of Greco-Roman civilization, average life expectancy was only 25 to 27 years. In 2,000 years, up to the 19th Century, the life span had been increased by only 10 years. The curve began to rise faster. In the first 50 years of the 20th Century it jumped to 69 years and at present is about 71 years. Some experts feel that with medical miracles to come, the average length of life will life between 90 and 100 years at the beginning of the next century. |
