Show Council Meeting Hooper Resident Likes Mayor July 21, 2005 Keith Butler's Action on Weber Sentinel Sewer in our City July 13, 2005 City council discusses interlocal agreements, adopts zoning ordinance changes Marriott-Slaterville's city council met and approved minor changes in the joint request for ambulance services. This is a joint resolution with West Haven, Hooper and part of the neighboring unincorporated part of Weber County that will ask for bids for improved ambulance services. The council also passed a resolution extending the interlocal agreement with Weber County for animal control services and technical forensic services. The council then discussed the planning commission's recommendations for changes in the zoning ordinances relating to storage units, fences and junk cars. With minor changes, the ordinance passed unanimously. Hooper residents should get petitions ready Wednesday, July 13, 2005 Our Hooper leaders are completely unethical. Did anyone notice the arrogance with which they told us how they chose the vacuum sewer for our citizens? "Hooper people, being short on intelligence, would probably make a poor choice choosing a sewer, so we will do it for them. "To further illustrate our superior smarts, we won't give them a vote because they might shoot us down." Bureaucrats are doing everything in their power to control everything we do. I have been informed by a reliable source that in Marriott-Slaterville, a well-managed city, older residents will not be required to connect to the sewer, just new developments. But we Hooperites are all going to be coerced into paying for a long-term debt for the benefit of developers, with no opportunity to challenge. With a little bit of compassion, we longtime residents could be afforded the same courtesy extended to longtime residents of Mayor Butler's community. Our mayor has disappeared; an engineer runs our town. Why is it that only power-hungry individuals run for public office? We need common sense in politics. At the polls, Hooperites need to write on the ballot, "None of the above." No representation would be an improvement. As a lifetime resident of Hooper, I never thought I'd see the day we were in such dire straits. Oh, for the good old days, the quiet life where common sense prevailed! Hooper public meetings are a waste of time. Get your petitions out! Ed Venstra Hooper |
