"It's crazy and weird playing them to three 1-0 games," Schumers said. "Both teams have good pitchers and good defenses; it's tough to get a run in." Squire tossed a two-hitter, with 11 strikeouts, two walks and a hit batter. Schumers was hit by a pitch leading off the second inning. She stole second base, was sacrificed to third by Hailey Hansen and scored on a headfirst slide following a passed ball. "I never slide headfirst, but I'm kind of sore on my left side that I slide on," Schumers said. "I don't know why I did it. The catcher wasn't in the way so I had a clear shot 158 |
