Show Jessie Creager New County DUP President Morgan and Summit counties held their conjoint annual DUP Convention Saturday, June 27, in the Morgan County Courthouse auditorium. Those elected officers for the coming year were Jessie Creager, president; Edna Carter, 1st vice president; Elsie Bell, 2nd vice president; Olis Smith, secretary; Eliza Halls, treasurer; Eunice Lake, keeper of relics; Cora Jones, organist; Hazel Sommers, chor¬ister; Amy Heiner, historian; and Lydia Parkinson, registrar. Retiring president, Mrs. Alta Thackeray, conducted the meet¬ing. Mrs. Thackeray gave a re¬port on the past two years' acti¬vities in the Morgan County DUP organization. Elva Richins gave a report from the Henefer Camp, and president, Fawn Smith, of Hoytsville gave the report for the accomplishments in DUP work in Summit County. Visiting members from the Central DUP Camp were President Kate B. Carter, Librarian Mrs. Brown and Mrs. Amanda Wader strap, the representative for this area. President Carter gave a very inspirational talk on the im¬portance of DUP work. Addresses were also given by the other two ladies. Musical numbers were rendered by Darlene Richins and Marvella Geary of Summit County, and by the children of Mr. and Mrs. Prank Little of Morgan. The 36 members in attendance enjoyed a noon luncheon under the direction of Manila Carter, Juanita Creager, Elsie Bell, and Edna Carter, with Orpha Vest in charge of the table decorations. Dora Rich and Eunice Lake represented the nominating committee for the convention when a new slate of officers were in¬stalled. The group expressed appreciation to Mrs. Alta Thackeray for her fine leadership during the past year and a warm welcome was given Mrs. Jessie Creager as the new county president. |
