Special Emphases Students considering application to medical, dental, veterinary, physical therapy, optometry and pharmacy schools should consult the beginning of the College of Science section of this catalog. The Department of Microbiology offers lower and upper level courses that provide superb training for examinations such as the Medical College Admissions Test, as well as medical school courses. Medical schools do not accept AP or CLEP credits in English or science courses. Biotechnology or Industrial Microbiology Emphasis, Microbiology (BS) Microbiology Major • Prog ra m Pre re qu isite: Not required. • Minor: Not required. • Grade Requirements: An overall GPA of 2.00 or higher in microbiology courses required for this major in addition to an overall GPA of 2.00 or higher. • Credit Hour Requirements: A total of 120 credit hours is required for graduation; a minimum of 71 of these is required within the major. A total of 40 upper division credit hours is required (courses numbered 3000 and above). Advisement All Microbiology students are encouraged to meet with a faculty advisor at least annually for course and program advisement.
