Show Ogden Scholastic Cagers Capture Opening Contests Tigers Run Wild Against Brigham Basketball Team Orange Streaks Play Without Services of Norton; Bengoschea Tosses In 17 Points To Take Lead in Scoring In Division; Weber Upsets Bear River WEBER HIGH and Ogden High courtiers jumped into the victory class last night in opening round games of the 1936 Northern division basketball race. The Tigers of Ogden, regional champs last year, walloped Box Elder, 63 to 14, while Weber won handily over Bear River, 48 to 33. Weber's revamped team rolled- into a 32 to 16 lead at half time against the Bears and was never headed. The Warriors failed to win during the pre-season schedule but showed fine form last night. Thomas, Wimmer and Judkins sparkled for the Warriors while Jones and Davis were outstanding for the Bears. Bengoschea, Aguirre, Deming and Wiese were the leading point getters for the Tigers. Deming sparkled at center last night due to an injury to Charles Norton, regu¬lar center, and turned in a nice game. Braegger was the high point man for the Box Elder aggregation. Preston dropped a thriller to Logan, 37 to 35. South Cache trimmed North Cache 32 to 21. This will be a regular north¬ern division league game and promises to be red-hot with competition. Ogden made a nne pre-season showing, while Weber captured only one game. Last night, however, Weber scored eight points against the national champions and looked good while Ogden failed to score and dished out a ragged brand of ball.
