Show Orange Streaks Close Season With Perfect Record Weber Drops Cage Headliner To City Basketball Rivals Logan Finishes In Second Place; Norton Collects Seven Field Goals OGDEN High courtiers made it ten straight in the northern division basketball race by turning back Weber High 36 to 26 on the Warrior court before a tremendous crowd last night. The Orange Streaks took com¬mand of the situation in the open¬ing period and were never headed. They piled up a 9 to 6 advantage at the close of the opening period and led 21 to 11 at the rest period. In the third period the Tigers increased their lead over the hard fighting Warriors to 15 points, dos¬ing the period on the long end of a 34 to 19 score. Weber outplayed the Tigers in the final period by scoring seven points as against two for the Orange Streaks. Coach Dick Kapple of the Tigers used eight men during tne con¬test. Mark Ballif used nine Weberites during the spirited contest. Chuck Norton again hogged the scoring honors for Ogden. He caged seven field goals and played a bril-liant floor game. Bengoschea and Deming also turned in creditable performances for the league champions. Thomas, Wimmer, Bingham and Evertson stood out for the Weber- ites. The intense rivalry which raged during the first half of the contest was ameliorated when pep clubs of both schools, joining arms and forming a lane along the gym floor, escorted their respective superin-tendents and principals between the orange and black, red and black uniformed girls. Following a blistering scoring rally uncorked by the Warriors, the boys became wound up so in the furore that, in their anxiety to gain possession of the ball, almost came to blows in their scrambles. The referee called both captains together for a short peace parley. Later Thomas, Weber and Deming, Ogden, were jerked from the court by their respective coaches for arguing. Mark Ballif's athletes turned in their best performance of the sea¬son against the Ogdenites. They will meet the winners of the Rich division next week for the right to compete in the state tournament at Salt Lake City. Logan finished in second place by trimming South Cache 32 to 23. They suffered only one setback and this came at the hands of Ogden. Box Elder upset Bear River 30 to 21 and Preston gained a 26 to 22 decision over North Cache.
