Show Warriors Upset South Cache Clawson Misses Two Foul Pitches As Students of Weber High Boo By L. G. WEBER HIGH hoopsters stumbled into the victory column last night in the key game of region one by taking the measure of South Cache, 31 to 30. The contest was marred by deliberate football and wrestling tactics on the part of both teams and poor sportsmanship on the part of students of Weber High. Led by the fine shooting of Albert Wimmer, seige gun of the Warriors, Weber waited for the final gun on the long side of a 31 to 28 score. D. Maughan, South Cache forward, counted from the charity line and a few seconds later Clawson, Cache center, was given a pair of free throws as the game neared its final 30 seconds of play. With a chance to tie and win the game for his team, Clawson toed the line and prepared to fire. What is believed and what was said to be the poorest showing of sportsman¬ship even seen in this city was then displayed by the Weber High stu¬dent body. Instead of according Clawson the courtesy of allowing him to shoot in silence, the entire student body rose, stamped their feet, shouted, screamed and booed. Clawson failed at both attempts. Weber broke into the scoring col¬umn in a hurry, warming the strings for six points within 60 seconds of play as the game opened. The locals then fell away to fumbling and the visitors climbed into a 10-8 lead at the first quarter. The contest was tied five times after that period, offering all sorts and classes of basketball—but fea-tured by fumbling and poor passing. Score: SOUTH CACHE G T F P D. Maughan, rf 5 3 1 111 F.
