Show Five Records Are Shattered; South Cache Team Strong Aguirre Sets New Mark In Shot; Wintle In Splendid Form LOGAN, May 2—(Special to The Standard - Examiner) — Dick Kapple's well balanced Ogden High track and field squad annexed the northern division championship here today by collecting 51 1/2 points. South Cache was next with 43 and North Cache third with 3 7 1/2. Other teams enrolled finished as follows : Preston, 24; Box Elder, 22; Weber, 20; Logan, 22 1/2; South Rich, 6; Bear River 5 1/2; North Rich, 3. Five new rec¬ords were established during the spirited meet. Aguirre of Og- d e n shattered the former record in the shot put with a toss of 47 feet one- fourth of an inch. The Tiger athlete was vastly superior to the rest of the field. L. Cardon of Logan established a new mark in the 220 yard low hurdles. He was clocked in 23.1. Wintle of Box Elder tossed the javelin 175 feet 9 inches for a new mark and this same chap also es-tablished a new division record in the discus with a heave of 122 feet 1 inch. The South Cache medley relay team composed of Allen, Green, Maughan and Huppy shattered the former record. They were clocked in 3.56.8. Phillips of Weber High captured the mile run in fast time. Freeman, colored runner of Ogden, led the field to the tape in the cen¬tury in slow time. Evertson of Weber High captured the furlong in 23.4. Sasaki of Og¬den won the broad jump. Outstanding athletes at the Lo¬gan meet today will compete in the state finals at Provo next Saturday.
