Show South Cache, Ogden Annex Feature Tilts Tigers Hand Bear River First Defeat, 33-17; Spartans Trip Preston Ogden and South Cache captured the feature games of the Ogden-Logan district Friday to tie for the top position, the Tigers playing their best game of the season to hand Bear River its first defeat, 33 to 17, and the Spartans winning with comparative ease against Preston, 36 to 23. Box Elder entered the win column by turning back Weber, 42 to 34, and Logan came back into the race for district honors by running up a topheavy score against North Cache, 39 to 18. Strong Defensively Coach Dixon Kapple's Ogden Tigers, runnersup in the state tour¬nament last year, played strong de-fensive ball, limiting the Bear River five to two field goals, the additional points coming from the foul line. At the end of the opening period Ogden led 8 to 3 and at the half were on top of a 15 to 8 score. Ability to register a large per¬centage of their free tosses kept the Bear River boys in the running the first half. The entire Ogden five broke through to score from all angles in the second half, and soon ran away to a big lead. Wayment, with eight points, led the scorers. Coach Conley Watt's South Cache boys, after being held on even terms the first period, spurted to break through for easy shots in the second period, and at half time had a com¬manding lead, 23 to 11. The Spar¬tans were good with their foul pitches, counting 12 of 17 shots. Lead Grizzlies Izatt and Morrell led the Logan Grizzlies in their shooting spree against North Cache, tallying 10 and 13 points, respectively. Logan led at the end of the first period, 14 to 8, and gradually increased their com-manding lead during the final pe¬riods. Box Elder handed the Weber cagers their third consecutive de¬feat, outlasting the Warriors in the second half to win 42 to 34.
