Show Warriors Drop Cage Thriller, Tigers Win Over Bears Box Elder Cagers Stave Off Belated Rally of Weberites Ogden Hoopsters Capture Third League Encounter From Bear River BOX Elder High school cagers staved off a devastating scoring rampage unleashed by the Weber Warriors late in the final period of a thrill-packed basketball melee to eke out a 32 to 30 reckoning Friday night at the Redskins' court. Ogden High Tigers kept their league slate clean at Bear River, winning handily over the Bears, 36 to 22. Weber took the floor in the final frame smarting under an 18 to 27 lashing. The game at this period came out of the doldrums of erratic if not unweildly laboring, to spurt into a first class contest. Set-shots for Thomas and Judkins led Weber out of the woods to come within six points of their opponents. Fishburn spun one from the side for Box El¬der and his mates, Anderson and Tingey each registered from the field to widen the margin 32-21 for ftie Bees. This was the last time the Bees hit the hoop. With three minutes to go the Warriors, led by Thomas, Wimmer and Judkins, went oil a scoring jamboree that almost swept the ball into the win column for the Redskins. Their chance was mAred by fumbling and erratic passing under their own backboard as the timekeeper had the pistol in the air. The contest opened as a mediocre league engagement between two green clubs, excited, erratic and lacking the ability to score when chance presented itself. The Redskins were completely off form during the major portion of the first half, unable to cope with the fast- breaking Brigham City hoopsters, although they showed but little abil¬ity. An exciting juncture came In the. third period when Judkins and Thomas rang the bucket to climb from an embarrassing 10-22 account to a 16-22 score. Braegger, sharp- shooting Bee forward, cracked the net for five points to end this quar¬ter in favor of the northerners, 18- 27. The Warriors collected but five points in the second frame while the Bees shot eight. This was the dullest period cf the contest, with both coaches doing much substituting. In a preliminary flare-up, the Box Elder High school yearlings spun them in from all corners to ring up a' 34 to 24 victory. Dick Kapple's Tigers of Ogden High jumped into an 11 to 3 lead at the quarter and were on the long end of a 17 to 9 score at half time. Chuck Norton, regular Tiger center, played in his first league game and turned in a fine performance. He caged five goals from the field. Norton has been out with a bad ankle. Deming at guard and Aguirre at i forward were other leading lights in the victory for the Orange Streaks. Anderson and Jones were outstanding for Bear River.
