Show 1937 Ogden High School Wins Region One Track Title Four New Records Established in Interesting Meet Held in U. S. A. C. Stadium Special to The Tribune LOGAN—Four new regional records were written into region one track history here Saturday in the Utah State Agricultural col¬lege stadium as Ogden high school swept to victory in an intensely interesting cinder meet. The Tigers scored 511-2 points to nose out a well balanced South Cache crew by 6 1-2 counters. The other schools entered in the meet finished as follows: North Cache, 37 1/2; Preston, 24; Logan, 22 1/2; Box Elder, 22; Weber, 20; South Rich, 6; Bear River, 5 1/2; North Rich, 3. Big Darol Wintle, Box Elder ace, set new regional records in both the javelin and discus, hurling the spear 175.9 feet, a mark which also exceeds the present state record. His best performance in the discus was 122 feet 1 inch, which is many feet short of the state record held by Ross Cox, former Ogden high luminary back in 1926, but is the best heave ever recorded in region one competition. The South Cache medley relay team, composed of Allen, Green, Maughan and Huppy, set a new rec-ord in this event, the speedy Hyrum crew being timed in 3:56.8. The fourth new record to be established Saturday was made by L. Cardon of Logan high school when he ne¬gotiated the 200-yard low hurdles in :23.1. By a queer twist of fate he was barred from setting a new mark in the high sticks. Going over the last hurdle, Cardon, who seemed : a certain victor, skimmed too low and fell down heavily. Before he was ; able to get up and finish his final sprint he was led to the tape by other runners in the race. Roy Leland Dahle, 15, son of Mr. and Mrs. Roy L. Dahle of 350 North Second West street, was injured during the meet when he was hit in the back of the head with a shot. He was taken to the William Budge memorial hospital for treat¬ment, where hospital authorities said his condition was not serious. The summary: Mile—Phillips.
