Show big as Ogden, about two miles from camp. We walked around for awhile, then went to the army Y.M.C.A. which is the most comfortable place I’ve been in since I came out here. We wrote some letters (I wrote to shorthand telling of the change in my address. and we then hunted some feed and went to a picture show It sure seemed good to get away from Camp and see a little city life again No one seems to know what became of Paulsen in the shuffle on Friday. Curley Mack hunted us up this morning He was sent to A Co. 13th Infantry, alongside of ours. Don’t know where we’ll go this afternoon; Bramwell Curley and I will go somewhere We went over to see John Parker (8) Aug. 25th 1918 this morning but he wasn’t in his tent. Guess he beat it somewhere rather early. Almost time for mail call I hope there’s some for me this time. I’d like to hear from Mother or some of the folks Monday Aug 26th 1918 Had drill on the Manual of arms this morning. It’s awful stuff to learn and it never will be used in battle but is given merely to get a solider used to the gun and to discipline them. We, Bramwell, Curley and I went over to Palo Alto yesterday At the “Y” they served us ice cream cake and punch. They held a short religious service in the evening and a sermon on “Christ and Zaccheus was preached by one of the Army Chaplains |
