Show took the ferry back to San Fran and got back to Camp about 10:30 It sure was a dandy trip and one that I will remember for a long time. There’s lots of rumors that we’re going to leave camp soon. I hope we go France and not Siberia if we go overseas and I think we will. Wed. Sept. 11th 1918 Just a month today since I came to Camp. It seems a long time but time passes faster now. I’ve been transferred now to the Intelligence battalion and went out with them today. We are to be used as observers and snipers and as patrol duty seeking information, rushing sketches etc Its dangerous work they say and takes a (15) 9-11-18 steady, keen witted man to stay in it so I don’t know how long I’m going to be here shorthand Friday Sept 13th 1918 It rained all night, the 11th all day yesterday and is still raining today. We do no drilling but our school for the Intelligence Battalion goes on each day. Its surely fascinating work and I’m going to work hard to stay in and qualify. We are learning to make sketches maps etc, and how to make Patrol reports today and tomorrow we don’t have to stand inspection but go to school at 7:40 Just had a nice letter from Mother. Lee appears to be sick as he don’t write home. |
