Show Sunday Evening Sept 15th 1918 Didnt leave Camp this weekend. No money to go to San Fran and didn’t want to go alone anyway. Everyone almost from this Company except the Intelligence bunch, out on the range today. I stayed in Camp yesterday and cleaned up that shell shorthand Got a dandy letter from Lee today. He’s in the M.G. Bn. now. The gang is all separated except Lee and Hy. They are in same Company as Lundberg. I went over to Palo Alto this afternoon and wrote some letters then came back to camp. Perhaps I can go to San Fran next week. Had YMCA services at Palo Alto Sung I need Thee Every hour (16) and I thought how applicable it was to me and could join in the song: “I need Thee oh I need Thee Every hour I need Thee”— And no matter where I go I’ll always keep that in mind The greatest help I have is prayer, whenever things don’t go just right. Monday Sept 16th 1918 Haven’t had a very heavy day Went out with the Int. Sec. this morning had proclcol experience as observers, out at the trenches. The Non Coms got in the trenches while we went out about two hundred yards on a hillside and separated into twos one observing the other recording I was a recorder. This afternoon we had drill in crawling, and in road sketching I fell down. |
