Show 9-18-‘18 My character sketch today will be on No 2 in the front rank of our squad:- Edwin O. Rhamey a rancher from Wyoming and a typical hoosier. He’s a thoroughly good honest fellow, but a little inclined to take himself too seriously especially with the “chickens” for whom he is always longing. Rather profane and obscene in his talk like most of them around here, but he will make a good soldier and a good comrade in the battlefield. Has a big heart despite his manners and will do anything for one he calls friend. He of course like, the rest havent had the bringing up I have had so perhaps there’s a simple excuse for his ways. (18) Thursday Sept, 19th, 1918. Been doing some more road contouring and road sketching. I got 79% on my last road sketch It was a good work compared with the others There were only a few above 80. We always get in ahead of the Company at noon and night. I had my picture taken today at the Liberty Studio. Bought a kind of certificate from a peddler yesterday that records your service, has pictures and well known sayings of Washington Lincoln and Wilson and leaves a place for a picture which the photographer furnishes free. The certificate costs 50₵. I think I’ll get a dozen if they’re good. I’ve had my picture taken here oftener than ever before in my life. (over) |
