Show Saturday Oct 19th. 1918 This morning we are riding over the dreary California Deserts and I am a little disappointed for we switched at Stockton to the Western Pacific and I guess that means we dont go East thru Ogden I had hoped to see some of my folks at Ogden and shorthand but I guess all I’ll see of Utah is Salt Lake City then east over DPQG Im going to buy and phone from there if I can. The trip is much like the one coming out on the Southern Pacific Except that the tunnels are longer I think. We are eating from our laps in our own mess kits. 27 Sunday Oct. 20 1918 We are now back in Utah dear old Utah again though we’re going through thirty miles south of my home town But Salt Lake will sure look good to me and WE’ll be there in about an hour or so. There are three cases of Flu on the train that have developed since leaving Camp. They tried to take them off and leave them in Winnemucca NV but could not find accomodations for them so they are still with us will be left in Salt Lake I am feeling fine Was on KP yesterday and had lots of fun it livened up the day a lot Darn this tiresome Nevada Desert |
