This collection contains 74 diaries of Dr. Edward Rich and his wife Almira. They begin in 1892 and run through 1965. The bulk of this collection centers on Almira's diaries that run from 1897-1947. During that time she documented her personal life and the medical practice of Edward, the community of Ogden and national events such as the outbreaks of WWI and WWII. The diaries also include newspaper and magazine clippings, memorabilia and pins. |

Show Friday February 12, 1954. Nice day. Fog cleared. Cleone and I went to Salt Lake this afternoon. Called on Pratt Macfarlane. Mrs & mrs. Yeals. Mr & Mrs. Ted Cannon Jr and Ezra J Poulson and attended the Theater at 9 south & 9 east evening. saw The Flowering Desert in color picture. Very good. This evening we attend reception from the returning Bishopric of the 33 ward. Bp John Shaw Bernie Thomas White and Spencer Clomp and Clyde Hemles Clark and Rounds. I am very tired and retire early. Letter from Mary Woolly Hale and one from Lin Tayler from Hunstville. Saturday February 13 1954. Nice day. Fog has cleared away. I have been home all day. Cleone and Myrene and Sister Dilworth Young have gone down to Salt Lake to a concert in the Tabernacle tonight. Utah Symphony Robert and Ellen Russell came from Provo about 10 pm and will stay until tomorrow evening. Retire about 1030 tired. Sunday February 14, 1954. Nice clear day. I attended Ward Priesthood and Sunday School and Sacrament meeting this evening. I went down to Centerville this afternoon with Dr Jr to see his house. Robert and Ellen went home to Provo this evening. Dr & Mrs. Rich Johnston sent me nice box of candy for Valentines. Heber & Lucile called this evening also Myrene our dear daughter. I am tired this evening. Monday February 15, 1954. Nice day. I went down to court house and got numbers for my auto today and had them put on car 135 759. Cleone came up and helped me with lunch. This afternoon I visited Wm Morton whose wife di3ed three months ago. Also visited Mrs. JG Falck about girl scour organization of which Mrs. Rich was one of the organizers and 2nd commissioner. Read about girl scouts early organization in Ogden and some on other subjects. Retire about 11 pm. |
