This collection contains 74 diaries of Dr. Edward Rich and his wife Almira. They begin in 1892 and run through 1965. The bulk of this collection centers on Almira's diaries that run from 1897-1947. During that time she documented her personal life and the medical practice of Edward, the community of Ogden and national events such as the outbreaks of WWI and WWII. The diaries also include newspaper and magazine clippings, memorabilia and pins. |

Show Saturday August 7, 1954. I attended funeral of Judge Albert Howell at Episcopal Church. He was burried in Ogden City Cemetery. Nice visit with Janath and children and Thair and Margaret. Cleone gave party for Lynn Dr Jrs boy. All women folks attend. Nice. Dr Heber and Lucile Hancock gave a family dinner in honor of Thair and Margaret at the Country Club this evening aobut 20 attend. Very nice. Sunday August 8, 1954. Nice day. June and Avon and Thair and Margaret departed for Yellowstone Park this morning on fishing and sight seeing trip. I attended Sunday School and taught the class. Subject courage. We visited mothers grave and took some flowers over. Just had a nice marker placed there. Attended church and David J. Wilson and his wife Mary spoke. Very good meeting. They will depart for New York some where Alty Wilson has been Judge in Communittee court Federal court. Monday August 9, 1954. Nice day. Cloudy tonight. I have been home all day reading history of Eliza Partridge Lyman. wife of Amasa Lyman. She had many trials and hardships. Oertel came home very tired. Cleone went to Salt Lake to have car fixed. Myrene called. Dear girls. Myrelle called. Tuesday August 10, 1954. Nice day. I have been home all day except for brief call over to Dr. Jrs. I have read some and wrote several letters. Cleone called. |
