This collection contains 74 diaries of Dr. Edward Rich and his wife Almira. They begin in 1892 and run through 1965. The bulk of this collection centers on Almira's diaries that run from 1897-1947. During that time she documented her personal life and the medical practice of Edward, the community of Ogden and national events such as the outbreaks of WWI and WWII. The diaries also include newspaper and magazine clippings, memorabilia and pins. |

Show Tuesday April 13, 1954. Clowdy today. I wrote some letters and recd two or three. Have not felt very well today. Mary getting ready to start home in the morning. Royal & Cleone called this evening also Dr Jr. Dick took some pictures of me today. Wednesday April 14, 1954. Rained last nite and this am. Mary and family started home this morning early. We had nice visit. A dear daughter. I ate lunch with Myrene at her home. She has gone to Salt Lake airport to meet her son Joe Jr who is coming home on furlough. Oertel has been to show. I have written a few letters today. Thursday April 15, 1954. Nice day. Water turned on lawn for first time. I have been home all day. Myrelle called this pm. Oertel brought nice jacket that she and Cleone and Myrene presented me for birthday. Very nice. Dear girls. Have written several letters. Dr Jr had cushons on my car covered. Dear son. Retire early. Friday April 16, 1954. Nice day. I wrote letters to Audrea Watkins. Richard Rich and Harriet Rich and Littie Rich. Recd letters from Pres. David O McKay. President Joseph Fielding Smith and G Oscar Russell from Wash DC. Cleone came up and got lunch for me and we went for ride. Dear girl. Have read some. |
