This collection contains 74 diaries of Dr. Edward Rich and his wife Almira. They begin in 1892 and run through 1965. The bulk of this collection centers on Almira's diaries that run from 1897-1947. During that time she documented her personal life and the medical practice of Edward, the community of Ogden and national events such as the outbreaks of WWI and WWII. The diaries also include newspaper and magazine clippings, memorabilia and pins. |

Show Saturday October 2, 1954. Very nice day 80. Have listened to conference all day. Roland Woolley and his sister Minerva McCarthay came up from Salt Lake and visited us for a few hours. Glad to see them. I went for ride with Cleone visited Cemetery and took some flowers for mothers grave. Conference speeches very good. Sunday October 3, 1954. Beautiful day. Splendid Conference sermons grand. Robert Russell & wife and a girl friend came up this afternoon and remained until 9 pm. May Cozzens Orrens wife from Sacramento called. She is here on a visit for a few days. Cleone called. We had dinner at Blanches & Dr Jrs. Monday October 4, 1954. Considerable rain today. I attended political rally at Egyptian theater. Ezra Taft Benson Secy of Agriculture spoke defending his farm program also Douglas Stringpellow congressman who is up for reelection. This evening I had dinner at Cleones and Royals and we discussed the coming wedding Oct 7 & their daughter Claire to Dr Fred Matthis. Retire rather tired and a little lumbago. Tuesday October 5, 1954. Nice day. I went over to hospital for short time and to market. Have been home most of day. Cleone and Dr Jr called. Little Wendy is here with Oertel tonight. Nothing special. Retire early. Recd letters from Myrtle Thomas Mary & Dora Halther and card from Janath Cannon from Columbus Ohio. |
