This collection contains 74 diaries of Dr. Edward Rich and his wife Almira. They begin in 1892 and run through 1965. The bulk of this collection centers on Almira's diaries that run from 1897-1947. During that time she documented her personal life and the medical practice of Edward, the community of Ogden and national events such as the outbreaks of WWI and WWII. The diaries also include newspaper and magazine clippings, memorabilia and pins. |

Show Monday September 20, 1954. Lumbago better. Joe Brewer Jr & wife called on me this pm. They are starting for Texas this evening where Joe is stationed in the US Army as stenography and cleark. Nice dear couple. Dr Jr reports Wm J Rich better in the Dee Hospital. Have read some Called on Dr JR Morrell. Ward teachers visited me this evening. I went down to market. Recd letter from Avon from LA California. Wrote to Zula Cole in Logan. Tuesday September 21, 1954. Nice day. Visited Wm J Rich son of Clarence Rich of Paris at hospital and this evening I accompanied Patrearch Fred Abbott and Bp austin Shaw to the hosp and the administration to Bro Wm. He had terrible auto accident few days ago. He seems better. I ate lunch at Myrenes. My lumbago is much better. Recd letters from Mary and Oertel Dr Jr called this evening. Recd nice letter from President David O McKay. Wednesday September 22, 1954. Nice day. Took patio furniture in today. Watered lawn. Brother Austin Shaw and I went over to Dee Hospital and administered to Wm Johnson Rich. He is better. Clarence Rich and wife parents of Wm who is in hospital called at the house this pm. Good people. Myrene and Claire Eccles Shaw called this am. Recd letters from Oertel and card from Cleone. Also letter from Joseph Anderson. Secy to 1 presidency. Thursday September 23, 1954. Nice rain early this am. I have been home all day. Read some wrote to Richard Rich. Thairs son. Recd card from Oertel. Dr Jr called also Myrene. Nothing special. Attended SUP meeting this evening visitors from Salt Lake. Mr. McCarty and Dr Christenson poor attendance. |
