This collection contains 74 diaries of Dr. Edward Rich and his wife Almira. They begin in 1892 and run through 1965. The bulk of this collection centers on Almira's diaries that run from 1897-1947. During that time she documented her personal life and the medical practice of Edward, the community of Ogden and national events such as the outbreaks of WWI and WWII. The diaries also include newspaper and magazine clippings, memorabilia and pins. |

Show Friday 17 1954. Myrenes birthday 48 a dear daughter. I attended Dorothea Browning Pattersons funeral today. Apostle Adam S Benion was the speaker. Nice funeral. Dear woman. Large crowd. Saturday Dec 18. Dr Jr called. Nice day but cold about 36. I have been home all day. Stomach upset. Recd many xmas cards and letters. Have read some and have written cards and letters. Recd letter from Avon. Dr Jr called. Sunday Dec 19. Beautiful day. Attended all church meeting for the day. We had dinner at Cleones and Royals. Visited Dr Jrs. His son Edward got home from army camp near St. Louis last midnight and looks well. He will be home 10 days. Monday Dec 20 54. Dec 20. Nice day. I have been home all day writing xmas cards and letters. Cleone and Myrelle called also Dr Jr and Blanche. Smart and wife are stopping with us tonight. He has just been in air corp in Texas. He is on two way to Los Angeles to visit her parents. He is our grandson. Tuesday Dec 21. Nice day. Clear and crisp. Myras biographers came today. I am greatly pleased with them. Heber and Lucile called also Myrene. I have recd many xmas cards and letters. Wrote to Charles Smart. Wednesday Dec 22. Xmas cards and writing letters. Dee Hospital banquet tonight good. Bp Thorp Isaacson from Salt Lake up foggy tonight. Getting Myras biography read for distribution. Thursday Dec 23. Prophet Joseph Smiths birthday. Have been busy with xmas and getting off Myras biographies. Myrelle Eccles Thomas and children went home to California today. Dr Jr called and helped. Also Cleone and Myrelle went to Salt Lake and looks same. Myras biographers for me. dear girl. Foggy today. Friday 24. Nice day. Little fog. I have been busy all day getting Myras biography ready for gifts tomorrow. Stanley Rich from Montpelier called and took books to Paris and Montpelier relatives. A good man. I am going to bed very tired early in evening. Dr Jr and Blanch & Cleone & Oertel called. |
