This collection contains 74 diaries of Dr. Edward Rich and his wife Almira. They begin in 1892 and run through 1965. The bulk of this collection centers on Almira's diaries that run from 1897-1947. During that time she documented her personal life and the medical practice of Edward, the community of Ogden and national events such as the outbreaks of WWI and WWII. The diaries also include newspaper and magazine clippings, memorabilia and pins. |

Show Thursday May 27, 1954. Cool day. I attend part of lectures at State Medical meeting at Opheum. This evening Oertel and I attended SUP banquet. Nothing special. Recd letter from Avon and Jas E Hart also invitation from Gen Max Rich to attend Utah Wall Camp of Governors Day. June 11. Friday May 28, 1954. Call day. After some frost last night in spots I attended part of the meeting of the Medical meetings. Had lunch at Myrenes Max cut the lawn. Dr Jr and Blanche called this evening. Recd letter from LeGrand Humpherys from Logan. Saturday May 29, 1954. Was home this am. Went down to Cleones for lunch and then Cleone and I went to see the Student Price Opera at the Orpheum. Very good. Looked black and like storm when we came out but storm blowed over. Had furnace turned on again today. Cool in morning and evenings. Dr Lynn Crookston came up to dinner and is helping Oertel this evening. Nothing special. Retire early tired. Have a little card. Sunday May 30, 1954. Memorial day but it will be also observed tomorrow. I watered garden and went to Priesthood meeting at 9 am. Oertel Dr Lynn Crookston went over to Dr. Jrs for dinner. We took flowers over to mothers grave and then went up to Logan and decorated Carols grave. We called at Dr. Crookston parents home. Called on Zula Cole Mabel Staphard Littie Rich and Lyman Rich. Returned to Ogden about 7 pm. Cool day and rained a little. |
