Dixie Puts Up Fine Fight But Loses To Ogden THE Dixie Fliers fought their game little hearts out againtet Ogden in the semi-final game oi: the state tournament Friday night but fell bhree points short, 29 to 33 and the Tigers went into the finalS against Jordan with a great shooting team and a downright good chance to win. The Fliers staged one of the most sensational rallies in recent years to cover up a 17 to 10 lead which the Tigers held at tihe half. Denby Wade, all-state forward, was the sensation of the match with 14 points. Revell and Norton' were phenomenal at shooting while Briggs guarded in stellar fashion. Dixie was slow to challenge Og¬den's early lead of 6 to 0 but. finally found the range with Price. Wade and Heaton pitching in field goals from difficult angles. Mean¬while the towering Ogden team had 11 points at the quarter, Bengoe¬schea, getting one, Revell and Nor¬ton two and Norton a free throw. Wade Gets Going Wade opened the second quarter with a thrilling one-handed side shot. The Tigers used their tremenmous height to great advantage in this period, tipping away under the basket until they finally made their shot. Revell and Norton had three buckets each at the half by expert execution of this play. Dixie had disheartening luck on baskets in their third quarter es¬pecially Wade and Price who got away for some nice shots. Ogden j was more accurate and kept right on rolling in the goals to finish the period out in front 28 to 15. The: scoring in that period was 11 tb 5! for the Tigers. Two long shots by Frei and one by Wade gave the Tigers the shudders and tliey took time' out with ithe score 2S to 21. Wonderful Rally Wade tossed in another free throw on Briggs' personal and the rally was still on when Frei was ejected oti personal fouls, Jay tak¬ing his place. Revell made an- ather two-pointer from a tip-in position. Both Ogden guards were out on personals as the Fliers con¬tinued their drive for victory. Wade had six out of eight free throws, Revell committed a personal foul ; but Jay missed. The fans were all for Dixie and the Hafen coached crew was responding right valiant¬ly. Wade missed a free throw but Price tipped it in for two points and Dexie was only two behind. Geary, Ogden sub, rolled in a setup t save the game for the Tigers. Ogden I G. T. F. P.
