Show Four Tigers Named On Northern Division Machine Norton Placed At Pivot Post; Logan Forward Honored Bengoschea, Deming And Briggs Selected For First Team Positions; Wimmer of Weber Lands Place On Second Squad; James And Ryan Win Recognition FOUR members of the championship Ogden high basketball team and a single member of the Logan Grizzlies, runners-up in the race which closed last Friday night, are awarded first team positions on The Standard-Examiner's annual mythical aggregation. Coach Dick Kapple's charges finished the campaign with ten consecutive victories. Logan, the runner-up, dropped only one decision, this to Ogden. The flashy Adam Bengoschea, key man of the Tigers, lands one of the first team forward positions. Ben¬goschea is the chap who directs the play of the league champions and he does a nice job of it. In every contest this season Bengoschea has covered himself with glory. He is a ball rustler, a fine dribbler and a good scorer. Izatt, one handed shot maker of the Logan Grizzlies, is named as the running mate for Bengoschea. With one exception, the Ogden game, Izatt turned in fine scoring performances. In the Ogden contest he was covered at all stages by Lamar Briggs and had little chance to score. Chuck Norton of Ogden was by long odds the leading pivot man of ithe league. Norton and Bengoschea are co-captains of the Tigers, and it is somewhat of a coincidence to have both men named on the first squad. Norton in the writer's opinion is the best scholastic center since 1932 when Bill Kinner was cavorting for Ogden. Chuck has a habit of tip¬ping in many baskets in every game. He is powerful on defense also. Pat Deming and Lamar Briggs, Ogden's regular guards, are placed at the guard posts on the first guard positions. Briggs, an all-state selection of last season, is rated the best back guard in the state of Utah if not the west. Deming, his running mate, was erratic at times during the season, but easily led the guards in scoring. Deming can also be used at the pivot post. Wimmer of Weber High and Braegger of Box Elder rate the sec¬ond team forward positions. Both of these men have played sensation¬al ball and pressed the first team members for honors. Wimmer was one of the main strings of the Warrior team during the league season. James of Logan rates the second team center position. This chap de¬veloped fast under Burns Crookston and is a finished courtier. Ryan of Logan and Agricola of Ogden High are named on the sec¬ond team as guards. Ryan, a broth¬er of Kent Ryan of Utah State, is clever and capable and has a color¬ful running mate in Agricola. The selections follow: FIRST TEAM Name Pos.
