Show (UTAH) STANDARD EXAMINER WEDNESDAY EVENING, OCTOBER 13, 1954Claire Eccles Shaw Is Married to Dr. Fred MatthiesMr. and Mrs. Royal Eccles announce the marriage of their daughter Claire Eccles Shaw to Dr. Fred Matthies, son of Mrs. Silas F. Matthies, and the late Mr. Matthies. He is a grandson of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Matthies of Pomeroy, Wash.The evening wedding took place at 7 p, m. Thursday, Oct. 7, at the home of the brides parents, with the brides grandfather, Dr. Edward I. Rich, performing the ceremony in the presence of members of the two families.The brides wedding gown was of champagne ivory satin, ballerina length, close fitted bodice, with low neck and cap sleeves. She carried a bouquet of green cymbidium orchids and green fuji chrysanthemums.Mrs. Frank B, Ellis was matron of honor, wearing a purple gown of pour de soie, ballerina length, with bouffant skirt and tight fitting bodice. Her flowers were gold symbidium orchids and gold fuji chrysanthemums.Young Lynne Shaw, daughter of the bride, was flower girl in pale green taffeta, ballerina length, with a purple velvet sash. She carried yellow sweetheart roses.Silas Matthies, brother of the bridegroom, was best man.The brides mother chosea sheath model gown of brown lace over cream taffeta. The mother of the bridegroom was attired in an original Christian Dior model of calendon green taffeta. Their corsages were of Johanna Hill roses.A wedding supper followed the ceremony.Leave on HoneymoonDr. and Mrs. Matthies left for a honeymoon to California. Upon their return they will make their home in Ogden.Dr. Matthies is a graduate of Reed College of Portland and the University of Chicago Medical School. He is a member of the Sigma Chi fraternity.During the two weeks prior to the wedding the young couple extensively entertained.Dr. and Mrs. Angus W. Petty were hosts at a dinner for 25 guests at the Ogden Golf and Country Club on Thursday, Sept. 30,On Friday, Oct. 1, Mr. and Mrs. Frank B. Ellis and Mr. and Mrs. John A. Lindquist entertained 25 at dinner at the Ellis home.Mrs. Silas Matthies, mother of the bridegroom, gave a luncheon for 40 guests in honor of the bride, on Monday, Oct. 4, at the Hotel Ben Lomond.On Tuesday, Oct. 5, Mrs. M. B. Browning and Mrs. A, ArthurImus presided at a small tea honoring the bride at the Browning home.Mrs. Joseph W, Brewer washostess to 15 guests at a luncheon in her home on Wednesday, Oct. 6, with the bride as the guest of honor.BEAUTIFUL BRIDE Claire Eccles Shaw, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Royal Eccles, and Dr. Fred Matthies, son of Mrs. Silas F.
