Show Friday Dec 13th 1918 Today is some big day for France (and for me) because they and I have the privilege of seeing the greatest man in the world; Pres Woodrow Wilson I was lucky enough to be among Those who went down to Brest to see him and we (Co E) formed part of the guard on the Backboard to keep back the crowd In the Parade were Gen John J Pershing Commander in Chief of the A.E.F. and Premier Clemenceau of France. Pres Wilson has a very kind and benevolent expression and oh such a smile Some big day and I’m glad I was here to see him. (Description of Battleship fleet) Sunday Dec 15th 1918 Sunday is much the same in this camp as any other day the work goes on just the same Ive had another streak of good luck. While on duty at the Billeting office Friday night, after coming back from town I overheard Capt Avery and a Sergeant who takes care of the office work, talking of their need for a steno and I promptly volunteered for the place (and got it) Its sure a soft snap as it keeps me out of the mud, I’m back in the company barracks and I don’t do hardly anything Just take a little dictation and help Sgt. Jorgenson on his reports and the Sgt. |
