Show SATURDAY EVENING, NOVEMBER 19, 1932. Tigers In Close Battle South Cache Surprises Warriors Lose Game Flash Nelson's Men Lose T hriller; A1 Reeves Sparkles Ogden High footballers downed the South Cache eleven 13 to 12 at the stadium Friday in the closing league game of the year for the "Orange Streaks." The contest was stubbornly contested, but was replete with loose play. Fumbles were plentiful and ragged football was in evidence much of the time during the four periods of play. This was particuladly true of the offensive and defensive play of Baldy Simkin's Ogdenites. Flash Neilsen's South Cache warriors played inspired football and gave the Tigers one of the closest battles of the season. FUMBLE EARLY South Cache took advantage of two Ogden fumbles in the very first quarter, one by Foulger, and one by Reeves ,and started a march to the Tiger goal. In less than five minutes of this period the Hyrum athletes were within striking distance of the final chalk mark. Neilson plowed off tackle for the first score. In this touchdown match a 29- yard pass from Peterson to Neilson aided the northern team. An attempted placement for the extra point failed. The Tigers flashed brilliantly for a short time in the second period and pushed over their first touchdown. On this gallop, Reeves, newcomer, galloped 33 yards to carry the leather to the South Cache 10 yard line. On third down Reeves went off tackle on a split buck for the initial Tiger rally. Ogden's attempted conversion was wide but South Cache was offside and they were penalized one yard. On the next attempt Foulger went over via scrimmage and Ogden led 7 to 6 at half time. The Ogdenites opened a sustained drive in the third period and worked the leather to the South Cache five- yard stripe. On two excursions with the ball, Foulger plowed over for the final Ogden touchdown. Reeves attempted to count the extra point from scrimmage but failed. South Cache dished out an assortment of long and short passes late in this period only to lose the ball on the Tiger 39-yard line. At this stage Peterson intercepted an Ogden pass and raced to the Tiger 12-yard line before he was downed. The visitors made a first down on three ball lugging trips and with the agate on the two-yard line Neilson was again called upon to score. The attempted placement, which would have tied the score was wide and low. South Cache turned in a creditable performance against the Tigers. Their passing attack in particular was marvelous. Mouchley, Maughn, Peterson and Neilson sparkled in the South Cache backfield. For the Ogdenites the work of Reeves and Foulger was consistent. Reeves thrilled with long runs while Foulger was a battering ram at hitting the line. Ellis again sparkled at quarter. Dale R. Anderson, Springer and Milligan were other bright stars for the locals.
