• Tuition and Student Fees Tuition and Student Fees Senior Citizen Registration Utah residents age 62 and over are permitted to enroll, on a space available basis, at any of the state's public universities and colleges, on a tuition-free, audit basis. Senior citizens will be required to complete an application for Admission. They will be required to pay a $10 per quarter administrative fee. Where applicable, senior citizens will be charged a fee for use of consumable materials. Senior Citizens must register at the Registration Office on or after the first day of class. Withdrawal Withdrawal from Individual Classes: Students may withdraw from individual classes during the first six weeks (or 60%) of the quarter. Individual classes may not be dropped during the final four weeks (or 40%) of the quarter. (See "Withdrawal from School" below.) No entry will appear on the transcripts of those students who drop individual classes during the first three weeks (or 30%) of the quarter (see "Changes in Registration"). A "W" (Withdrawal) will appear on the records of students who withdraw from individual classes between the end of third week and the end of the sixth week. Students who stop attending a class without officially withdrawing will receive a "UW" (Unofficial Withdrawal) for that class. The complete policy and procedure for making registration changes and the schedule of deadlines for making them are published each quarter in the class schedule. Withdrawal from School: Students are permitted to completely withdraw from school during any given quarter up to and including the last day of instruction prior to final exam week. Students withdrawing from school must obtain a Withdrawal from School form from the Registration Office and process it according to instructions. The notation "Registered and Withdrew" and the date will appear on the records of those students who completely withdraw from school after paying tuition and fees. Dead Week (Academic Study Week) Academic Study Week (Dead Week) is designated as the five class days preceding the final examination period. This week was designed to provide students with an opportunity to review course information and to synthesize concepts in preparation for the final examination. Instructors are requested to honor dead week by using their lecture periods in assisting students in the synthesizing process. Examinations and assignments should be avoided during Dead Week with the exception of make-up examinations requested by individual students. TUITION AND STUDENT FEES Tuition and student fees are established by the Utah State Board of Regents, and are subject to change without notice. Twelve credit hours per quarter constitute a full load for tuition purposes. Resident or non-resident students enrolled for twelve or more quarter hours will be assessed full tuition. Part-time resident or non-resident students (those enrolled for less than twelve credit hours) are assessed tuition on a per credit hour basis proportionate to the tuition paid by full-time students. Consult the quarterly class schedule for current tuition and fees. The Financial Aid section of this catalog has a table which students may consult to determine approximate costs to attend Weber State, including tuition and fees. Note: The institution reserves the right to place financial holds on registration, transcripts, and graduation for any student owing the institution money or who has had a check dishonored. Audit Classes Charges for auditing a class are at the same rate as regular credit classes and such hours will be counted as part of the student's total credit hour load for tuition calculation purposes only. Continuing Education and Off-Campus Students enrolled in credit classes offered by Continuing Education are ordinarily assessed tuition on the same credit hour basis as provided in the regular tuition schedule shown in the quarterly class schedule. Laboratory Fees Students enrolled in certain classes must pay a laboratory fee in addition to regular tuition. These classes include: Audio Visual Marksmanship Bowling Photography Cartography Military Science Ceramics Oil Painting Cinema Printmaking Food Preparation Sculpture Jewelry Making Skiing Weaving Late Registration Fee Students registering on or after the first day of class are assessed a late registration fee. Music Fees A fee will be charged to each student taking a private instruction class for credit. This fee must be paid at the time of registration. Non-Credit Courses and Workshops Charges for non-credit classes, workshops, etc., are established by Weber State and will be announced with the course offerings. Processing Fees There are several fees charged for processing students records or making transactions to them, they include: Application for Admission Graduation Fee Recording Fee for Special Cases (each transaction) Transcript of Credit (Charged quarterly as part of student fees) Refunds Tuition and student fees will be refunded according to the published refund policy found in each quarterly class schedule. Refund schedules are set by the State Board of Regents. Remediation Fees Students requiring remediation will be charged an additional fee at the time of registration. (See "Admissions" section.) Remote Student Teaching Fee Students requesting placement for student teaching out of the Weber State service area are assessed a special fee for supervision. Rentals and Deposits Rentals and/or deposits are required on certain items and must be paid to the cashier. The following items are necessary to rent or require a deposit: Chemistry Lab Breakage Deposit* Key Deposit* Gymnasium Locker Lock Deposit* Art Building Locker Key Deposit* Wardrobe Locker Musical Instrument Locker Music Practice Room Piano/Organ *In order to obtain deposit refund from Cashier, student must return the key or lock to the department and obtain clearance from the department. No refund on any deposit made during the school year will be made after June 30. Student Development Fee Students whose skills in English and math fall below predetermined levels are assessed a Student Development fee each quarter. They are exempt from the fee when they have reached English and Math proficiency and have completed at least 30 credit hours with a cumulative grade point average of 2.00 or better. (See Admissions: Freshmen Applicants.) Teaching Fee Education majors will be assessed an additional fee during the quarter in which they are registered for their student teaching experience. Test Fees* Fees are charged for various tests administered on campus in accordance with a schedule to be approved each year. The fees may change from time to time during the year. Inquiries should be made at the Testing Center in the Stewart Library, Room 45. Dishonored Checks—A student whose check is dishonored by the bank shall be charged for dishonored check processing and may be suspended from school until such time as the check is redeemed. ^Consult the quarterly class schedules for fee amounts as they may vary from quarter to quarter.
