Sport Clubs The sport club program involves students, faculty, and staff which compete against local, state, regional, and national college and university teams in a variety of sports. Included are: Billiards, racquetball, rodeo, skiing, softball, soccer, fencing, swimming, cycling, bowling, volleyball, table tennis and martial arts. People interested in starting up a new club should contact the Campus Recreation Office, 626-6637, which is open from 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. Wilderness Recreation Center The Wilderness Recreation Center rents recreational equipment such as cross-country skis, snowboards, camping equipment, game equipment, white water rafts, mountain bikes, and canoes at nominal fees. It also coordinates trips and programs for courses and organizations. Four interrelated programs help achieve this goal: • Career Information, Advisement, and Counseling • Cooperative Education and Internships • Job service and Student Employment Referral • Career Employment Referral and On-Campus Interviewing Career Counselors provide help to students as early as possible to guide them into rewarding career and life choices. Cooperative education and Internship professionals help to achieve alliances among undergraduate students, employers and faculty members for the purpose of providing study-related employment experiences for which college credit is awarded. Career employment professionals provide extensive training to help Weber State students develop job-seeking skills and create an atmosphere wherein employers, students and alumni can meet their needs. Additional support services include professionally staffed career and employer libraries, job service, part-time and full-time employment referral and work-study employment referral. Services are also available to faculty and staff members. Occasionally, members of the University population encounter circumstances that induce frustration, stress, and personal disruption. Effective strategies for coping with these situations and feelings facilitate emotional and educational growth. The Counseling Center provides group and individual programs to enhance both personal and interpersonal development. Description The Counseling and Psychological Services Center has a full-time, professional staff of psychologists and counselors who work from a wide variety of theoretical approaches. Counseling regarding any aspect of personal development noted above can be obtained by scheduling an appointment through the Center receptionist. Confidentiality Initial intake interviews and all counseling sessions are kept strictly confidential. Psychiatric Service A psychiatrist serves as a consultant to the Counseling and Psychological Services Center and is available for limited psychiatric assistance through referral by and conjoint treatment with a member of the Counseling Center staff.
