Linking was recognized for unparalleled accomplishments in bird conservation both locally and internationally Ten years ago, Don Paul, avian biologist for the Utah Division of Wildlife Resources, and a group of local biologists organized the Linking Communities, Wetland and Migratory Birds Initiative to promote conservation of habitats for Great Salt Lake birds along their migration routes. • For the fourth consecutive year, Weber State University's John B. Goddard School of Business & Economics is included in the Princeton Review's Best 300 Business Schools publication. The New York-based education services company selected the Goddard School's Master of Business Administration program for inclusion in the 2011 edition of its book. According to the Princeton Review, inclusion in the book is based on several criteria such as their regard for the schools' academic programs and other offerings, institutional data collected about the schools, and opinions of students attending the schools. • Weber State University has been recognized as one of the top military-friendly colleges and universities in the nation for 2008. Military Advanced Education (MAE) magazine, which is distributed to military education officers around the world, selected WSU as one of the top 60 schools for inclusion in its 2008 list, featured in the publication's Nov./Dec. 2008 issue. The annual list is compiled by the editorial staff of Military Advanced Education and an independent panel of judges. Schools are selected based on military enrollment, military-friendly policies and programs, military contracts, and feedback from students. WSU faculty members and students work closely with Hill Air Force Base (HAFB) on projects and research that support the base and its mission. The university also is actively involved in a major educational endeavor to train civilian employees on base by providing a variety of education and training programs. • Weber State University faculty members Therese Grijalva, David Malone, Cliff Nowell and Shane Schvaneveldt have been recognized for their work with sustainable business curriculum by Utah Business Magazine. The four professors were named "Green Pioneers" at the magazine's Utah Green Business Awards in October. Grijalva, Malone, Nowell and Schvaneveldt were recognized for their work in creating a first-of-its-kind graduate curriculum in Utah targeting environmental sustainability for businesses. The coursework is part of the Master of Business Administration program in the John B. Goddard School of Business & Economics. Accreditation Weber State University is regionally accredited by the Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities. All applied technical education programs are accredited by the Utah State Office of Vocational Education. Teacher education programs are accredited by the National Association of State Directors of Teacher Education and Certification.
