Show Tuesday, January 12, 1932. A letter from Avon Today I called to see Thelma B Browning. Gladys Knowles, did some shopping. Called at Community Service (or school board BLDG) & got six tickets for the show. Hay Fever and gave to three couples who could not have gone. Called to see Grandma Perry she is eighty six years old tomarrow. also sent her a potted plant from Fern Shop. Wednesday, January 13, 1932. This is a very cold day. This afternoon Mrs. Valbaurg Wheelwright and I investigated twelve families for the Community Service. They have helped 1800 people this winter with groceries, coal & some rent by given mere work on city projects and paying in groceries etc. We were chilled thro before we got home. Found most all willing and anxious to work and all needed help but did not want charity. We have never had such a condition here before. This evening I went to Relief Society Board meeting we dismissed to go to Lewis Junior School and hear Mrs. Katherine Pardo give the play The Grant Hotel. Wrote to Avon recd a letter from her yesterday. |
