Show BEAT THE TIGERS The Ogden City stadium will be the scene at 8 p. m. tonight of “the biggest game of the year” as two of the state’s most bitter arch-rivals, Ben Lomond High and Ogden High, square off in the eleventh annual “Iron Horse” football game. field in the state in Ogden High. The Ogden Tigers, No. 4 rated team in the state, will enter the contest with a better record than the Scots, .but any and all previous records can be thrown out the window when these two schools meet. The winner of the game will have to score quickly and then try to hold off the other team. If both Ben Lomond and Ogden use this strategy, and they probably will, the game could end in a low score. Tonight’s game promises to be a wild, offensive battle as both teams sport much better offenses than defenses. The game should prove’ evenly matched, though, in both size and skill. Ben Lomond will outweigh Ogden by an average of four pounds per player. The Scots also hold a tremendous weight advantage on the front line where they have four players over two hundred pounds. The trophy is the new “Iron Horse’, which depicts the friendship, unity, and feeling of cooperation that exists between the two schools. The trophy, now being built by Mr. Carl Wallis, Ben Lomond industrial arts instructor, was donated to the schools by Mr. Toby Larsen. It will consist of the scale models of the two trains which met at Promontory, Utah, at the completion of the first transcontinental railway, mounted upon a track section. The track, in turn, will be mounted upon a wooden base with a metal plaque affixed to it. Each year the name of the winning school will be placed upon the plaque, and the colors of the victor will be painted on one of the ties. The trophy will be presented to Ben Lomond Student Body President, Dennis Stettler, by Bob Doctor, Ogden’s Student Body President, as soon as it is completed. Sumpter Logan on September 25, caused a slight bit of controversy among the Social Studies Semimar students. Several students stated that inter-marriage must reach a state of acceptance hefore full integration may exist in the United States. Reverend Logan disagreed. He stated that “America in the future will exist as brown America.” He based his opinion upon the facts that all mankind originated from Adam (meaning mankind), that no race may correctly call itself a pure race, that 30,000 Negroes pass unknown into the white race each year, and that the whites make up a small minority of the world today.
