In review of this year’s football season, Ben Lomond has not won a football game, as it sports an over-all record of 08-2. . © The Scots launched their grid campaign on September 6 against the Jordan High Beetdiggers. The ’Diggers at the time were ranked sixth in the state. Ben Lomond’s defense could not hold the strong Jordan offense, namely Steve Densley, as they lost 21-7. For their second game, the Scots again traveled to Salt Lake, this time to challenge the state’s No. 2 rated team, Skyline. The Eagles broke a first half deadlock late in the third quarter and scored again in the final period to edge past the Scots, 13-0. Ben Lomond lost its final preseason game to the Spanish Fork Dons, 16-6, in a night battle at the Ogden City Stadium. Davis High’s well trained, mechanized Darts, Region Two champions this year and second only to Highland in the state’s rankings, unleashed Carter “Cheetah” Cook on the Scots. He bulldozed his way across for three touchdowns in leading Davis triumphantly over Ben Lomond 26-0. Spirit climbed to an all-time high in anticipation of the traditional Iron Horse clash with SEASON Ogden’s “Terrible Tigers”. The state’s top running back, Henry Owens, shattered all Ben Lomond hopes of retrieving the little train when he romped over for five touchdowns. The classy Orange and Black Raiders, edged out of the region title by Davis, downed the Scots for the ninth straight year, 32-0. : Bruce Charlesworth and Jim Harrop led Weber High’s Warriors to a 37-6 victory over B.L. on Oct. 17 in a league battle played at Weber’s stadium. In an afternoon contest on October 25 at Bountiful High, quarterbacks Dave Bott and Kirk Black passed the Scots to an upset 7-7 tie with the Bountiful Braves. Oddly enough, the Scots scored another 7-7 tie one week later against Clearfield. And finally, Bonneville surprised everyone by dunking the winless and windless Scots, 25-6.
