Show depicts a train running through desert land with bandits on the side. The south side has covered wagons and settlers pulling handcarts as they travel west. Our city seal also appears on both the east and west side of the bridge. Similar art work has been placed on the bridge at 400 North. SUBDIVISIONS The Standard Examiner on July 22, 2008, discussed Weber suburbs growth. A chart listed Marriott-Slaterville's population as 1,425 in 2000, 1,470 in 2006, and 1,496 in 2007. The 06-07 increase was 26. When the Spencer Farms and Millcreek Subdivisions are completed, we are sure the increase will be much larger. The Fred Johns Subdivision (5 lots) at about 2000 West 250 North was approved in February 2008.. The property is a combination of C-2 and A-1. Three lots are reserved for future commercial use and two lots will be used for moderate income residential, for homes for Mr. Johns and his son, similar to surrounding homes. Proof of water rights must be submitted to the Bona Vista Water District. The developer of Mill Creek Plaza at 250 North 1900 West proposed to add two new buildings to this site. They will be professional offices similar to those already existing, and the request was approved at the February council meeting. Preliminary and final subdivision approval for Intermountain Farmers Association at 1069 West 1200 South was given in March. It consists of seven retail business pads, and has one access to 12th Street. IFA held a grand opening on June 24, 2008, at 9:00 a.m., attended by the mayor. The Les Olson Company also held their grand opening, which Mayor Keith Butler attended. The establishment of these business in our community, with nice new buildings, and wonderful staff, is most appreciated. In April, the Deru Minor Subdivision's request for an easement for a sewer line on City property to connect with the Mill Creek Subdivision sewer line was approved with the stipulation that the line be kept on Deru property as much as possible, and that a written statement showing the location of the line on city property be sent by the engineer. In July Ken Martin informed the council that Spencer Farms Subdivision is ready for its final acceptance. A copy of the inspection report from Brent Slater, Jones and Associates, the City Engineer, was reviewed, showed a few outstanding items needed to be completed, including, (a) constructing survey monuments as per plat, which also need to be center punched, (b) delivery of the "as built" drawings to the city, (c) removal of the fabric from the inlet boxes through the subdivision, and (d) seal coat on the roads. Since Mr. Slater's report, all the outstanding items were completed, except the seal coat on the roads. Funds for that cost will be given the city to perform that work at its next seal coat schedule. He recommended acceptance be granted. Final acceptance of Spencer Farms Subdivision, subject to funds for the chip and seal given the city, was approved unanimously. Brent Slater, Jones and Associates, recommended, by memo dated November 11, 2008, final acceptance of the improvements in Mill Creek Subdivision, subject to completion of several outstanding items: a. Backfill the sidewalks on the entry road into the subdivision. b. Cleanup of concrete and asphalt chunks in the park strip in the entry way into the subdivision. c. Remove and replace the cracked handicap ramp at the northeast corner of 500 South 2075 West. d. Funds being held in escrow for completion of the seal coat need to be transferred to the city, so the city can complete the seal coat next year. e. Hold $9,815.00 in escrow for the installation of sidewalks for lots and sidewalk amounts as follows: Lot 4, 117', Lot 18, 15', Lot 19, 25', Lot 20, 232', Lot 22, 246', and Lot 23, 120'. 15 |
