Show February 23, 2008 BIRTHDAYS Slater Fawn Slater of Marriott-Slaterville celebrated her 90th birthday with family. She was born on Feb. 23, 1918, to Byron L and Mary Lucetta Bybee in Uintah. On Aug. 8, 1936, she married Alma Slater, and they worked side by side on their farm in Slaterville. He died on Nov. 13, 1993. Her children and their spouses are Lane and Myrth Slater, Randy and Jill Slater, and Linda Slater. She has six grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren with one on the way, and three great-great-grandchildren. Slater March 13, 2008 Phillips Alvin Miles Phillips of Marriott-Slaterville will celebrate his 90th birthday. His family will honor him at an open house for friends and family from 2 to 4 p.m. on Saturday, March 19, at the Marriott-Slaterville LDS Church, 250 N. 1500 West. He and his twin brother Melvin Phillips were born in Ogden on April 21, 1918, to Melvin T. and Marion Jones Phillips. He was raised on a farm in Wilson Lane. He graduated from Weber County schools and also attended Weber College. He married Freda Rosene Bowns on June 4, 1941, in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. She died on Aug. 18, 1990. He is an elder in the Marriott-Slaterville LDS 3rd Ward. He served in the U.S. Navy Communication Reserve and as a physical therapy technician in Miami. He worked at Hill Air Force Base in radio and radar and was employed at KLO. He owned Weber Radio Communication Service, designing public safety and industrial radio communication systems. He was associated with Motorola Communications for 31 years. He retired in 1983. His interests include operating radio station W7HS, fishing, reading and gardening. His children and their spouses are Shirley Hill, Diane and Jim Smith, Karen and Mike Stevenson, and Cheryl and Er-nie Crawford. A son, Larry A. Phillips, is deceased. He has 10 grandchildren and 10 greatgrandchildren. Phillips 175 |
